Tears of Valiance

(Left to right: Eric, Michael, Bram, Rob, Rudie)
Biography
In the small town of veldhoven, five metalheads practice the art of making music. They go by the name of Tears of Valiance. Their music is inspired by bands like Ensiferum, Týr and Helloween which can be heard on the demo Prologue. Energising songs like "Lost on the Battlefield" and epic tales like "A New Pain" take the listener along in a journey based upon a story which is described on the website.
The steady beat and rhythm are provided by the drums, bass and guitar. While the keyboard and lead guitar fill the music with enchanting melodies. Three members also use their vocal capabilities, combining clean vocals and grunts to complete the sound. Through several concerts they have already proven their capabilities on stage and built up a steady fan base. On stage they are all dressed in their band colours blue and white. History
2004
Late 2004, it is almost Christmas and Rob and Eric are walking around at the celebrations at school. Rob has brought his guitar and he has made up a tune which he shows to Eric who joins in by thinking of catchy lyrics containing mainly the phrase 'wij willen geld'. They are also talking about creating a real band with Rob at guitar and Eric at the drums. With two members that is not going to work though, so they need other people to join them. Their search for a bassist and a keyboardist lead them to Rudie (bass) and Bram (keys). Now all they need is a singer.
2005
Eric's home is not the most convenient place for rehearsals so they start looking for a better place which they find in Odeon. In there they practice their first demo but still they need a singer. Contacts on the internet bring them to Karin. She agrees to join the band, and finally their line-up is complete. With this formation they audition for Klein Kunstje, arranged by their school and get to play their first concert in a theater.
Later that year the band has to part ways with Karin and once again has to look for a singer. He is found in midsummer. Merijn joins the band, but he does not only sing, he also plays guitar, giving Tears of Valiance a richer sound. With this line-up they play for almost a year.
2006
March 2006, Klein Kunstje again. Tears of Valiance meet Lindsay, she has also performed that night and almost as a joke they ask her to join the band and do a guest performance with a violin. So it happens, the next concert their number has increased to six. After that she doesn't leave, the band really like the added element of melody and Lindsay becomes the next full-time member.
Then, as the year wears on, personal problems force Merijn to leave the band, and yet again they are without a singer. Fortunately they find a solution quickly. Michael comes and adds some killer riffs on his guitar, allowing Rob to drop back a bit with his guitar and take on lead vocals, Lindsay proves to have a good voice too. Only several days later they play on an open air stage at Cult & Tumult, a local festival.
2007
The band fares well as it is and at the end of the year they are ready to finally record a demo. Prologue is their first demo and produces enthusiastic reactions from their fans. After the rather inactive period while preparing and recording Prologue they are ready for more gigs, but shortly later Lindsay has to part ways with Tears of Valiance. They manage to move the gig to the next year and start building up a whole new band.
2008
The name is the same, the rest has changed. All songs have been rewritten, now Bram does clean backing vocals and Rudie adds the backing grunts. Their new site is online and shows the new colours of the band, blue and white. Which are also the colours they wear on stage now. With this line-up they are ready to make a fresh start and show what they are capable of in the coming concerts. |
